Case Summary  |  Acne Scar Treatments

Since my middle school years, I have struggled with acne. I would break out so much, I decided to "pop my pimples" to lessen the appearance. However, I found that this was a very bad idea. Years later I had deep scars all over my face, resulting from the pimples I popped. I have tried many treatments to lessen the appearance of the scars. One treatment I used was called Bio Oil. I picked it up at a local CVS store for about $12 or $13. It promised that it would lessen the appearance of scars. I started using the oil everyday, especially before I went to sleep. I would first wash my face with a mild soap, pat it dry, and then massage the oil into my face, especially in the places where I had the most scars. I used the oil until the container was empty. I had somewhat noticeable results when I started using the products. When I woke up after applying the treatment, I noticed my scars were still visible but lighter. However, the more and more I used the product, the less and less I saw an effect.Though the label states that the oil contains several nutrients and minerals, my skin didn't look that much healthier from using the product either. All in all, I decided not to buy more of the product, because I could get similar results from much cheaper products.
