Case Summary  |  Back Spasms

Condition Back Lower (Lumbar) Pain
Case Description

When I was in high school, I passed multiple kidney stones. Passing these stones caused me to bend over in pain for long periods of time. As a result, the vertebrae in my spine popped slightly out of place. When I started having back spasms once a week, I went to the doctor who ran MRI's and other exams of my back, with and without highlighting certain organs. She checked my kidneys, liver, and spine. Although I was shown to have disk degenerative disease everything else seemed fine to her. Finally, after years of going from my primary care doctor, urologist, and getting blood work done, I went to see a chiropractor. He felt my spine with his hand and told me that my vertebrae had popped out and that good posture and physical therapy should help. Although I'm fixing my posture, the physical therapy didn't result in any change. However, I had always noticed that whenever I was stressed, the pain worsened. My stress levels were extremely high, so I began taking Celexa to calm me down. Ever since then, I haven't had a single back spasm.
