Case Summary  |  Broken Coccyx

Condition Back Lower (Lumbar) Coccyx Area Pain
Case Description

Years ago, I landed--tailbone first--on a concrete surface. After getting x-rays, I was informed that I had broken my coccyx. At the time, I was told that not much could be done to repair my tailbone, short of having very risky surgery. I was advised to sit on a pillow whenever possible. The pain has remained constant throughout these past twenty years. Additionally, this has caused other back problems for me. The only thing that I have found to help slightly, is to wear a pair of padded bicycle shorts. Doing so has alleviated the constant swelling only a little bit, but anything is better than nothing.
