Case Summary | Bulged Disk In Back
| Condition | Back Lower (Lumbar) Herniated Disk |
| Case Description | Back in the summer of 2003. I hurt my back pretty badly, I noticed I had a huge lump on the lower part of my back. I had insurance, but I did not want to be told to stop working. So I decided to just keep working. The lump stayed, and I could not lay flat on my back for two years. Well I kept working till the summer of 2007 at that point I was having a hard time getting out of bed,and walking so I decided that it was time to go see a Dr. I knew I need an MRI. It took three months trying to get my insurance company to cover an MRI. The Dr's just kept on shooting me with cortisone and saying it was my sciatic nerve. They were partially correct, but I knew something else was wrong. When I did finally get my MRI I knew it was going to show up something major, and sure enough I found out that it was a bulged disk in my lower back that when inflamed rubs on my sciatic nerve causing me mobility problems. Since they have diagnosed it I have been taking Vicodin when needed, and doing yoga three times a week. I have other treatments as well such as acupressure, some chiropractic work. out of all my treatments the Yoga is the best. I still have bad days quite a few to be honest, but the yoga does a great job of keeping me moving. I use the Vicodin on hard days. When it is really hard to walk. The yoga works so long as I do it 3-4 times a week. The acupressure works alright. Sometimes it does not work at all though. Same with the chiropractic. |
