Case Summary  |  Cervical Fusion for a herniate disc

Condition Back Upper - Neck (Cervical) Osteoarthritis - Degenerative disc disease
Case Description

It started when I simply bent over to open a drawer. Literally! At first I took loads of tylenol, then after prompting from a friend I went to a chiropracter. He attempted to manipulate my back and neck, only to aggrivate the pain worse. I then went to a spinal doctor, one who specializes in these things. It seems that he made me wait until I was constantly crying and crawling on my knees to him, asking him to help me. He did a cervical fusion. They took a piece of my hip and fused it into my neck. The recovery from the hip took longer and was more painful than the neck surgery. Today, I am doing pretty good. This was about 9 years ago. I do have to be careful and watch my lifting and activities, but I have not had to go back since then....although I think I probably should have on a couple of occasions.
