Case Summary  |  c's shoulder

Condition Internal Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
Current Status and How Case Started

Because I have EDS hypermobility, my shoulders have been dislocating frequently for years. Consequently, the capsules are stretched/no longer round as they should be to hold the joint in place and I suffer from frequent tears that don't heal properly-like SLAP lesions, rotator cuff tears, ligament hyperextension. Unfortunately, surgeries typically don't work well/last long since all of my collagen is stretchy all over. Still, it got so bad I was scheduled for a total shoulder reconstruction in Jan. Both open and arthroscopic to repair the lesions, debridement if needed, and tighten the shoulder capsule of my worst shoulder. 4 days before shoulder surgery, my neck vertebrae subluxed so that had to be fixed first in Feb. Then my back broke and I had to have that fixed in April. Surprisingly, while my collagen hasn't changed, I still sublux & hurt, but my shoulders are disclocating less frequently (a few times per month instead of every 1-3 days) just with the stabilization of my back. Helpful. Now I have a little longer heqling time between subluxing/dislocating.
Next I'll get emg to test for suprascapular nerve root impingement which maybe contributing some to the shoulder pain ( My shoulder drs say not all of it tho). If that's positive, I can try a diagnostic nerve block. Although I have to wait til next month to do this so the nerve blocks don't interfere with the spinal fusions. There's an issue there. Also, I have nerve root impingemnet at C5-6 and may need a surgery to correct that. And of course, maybe that shoulder surgery, but since it's not expected to be long sustaining and can do more damage than good in some cases, I'm trying to put it off for as long as possible, with my drs support.
