Case Summary | c's shoulder
| Condition | Internal Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. |
| Current Status and How Case Started | Because I have EDS hypermobility, my shoulders have been dislocating frequently for years. Consequently, the capsules are stretched/no longer round as they should be to hold the joint in place and I suffer from frequent tears that don't heal properly-like SLAP lesions, rotator cuff tears, ligament hyperextension. Unfortunately, surgeries typically don't work well/last long since all of my collagen is stretchy all over. Still, it got so bad I was scheduled for a total shoulder reconstruction in Jan. Both open and arthroscopic to repair the lesions, debridement if needed, and tighten the shoulder capsule of my worst shoulder. 4 days before shoulder surgery, my neck vertebrae subluxed so that had to be fixed first in Feb. Then my back broke and I had to have that fixed in April. Surprisingly, while my collagen hasn't changed, I still sublux & hurt, but my shoulders are disclocating less frequently (a few times per month instead of every 1-3 days) just with the stabilization of my back. Helpful. Now I have a little longer heqling time between subluxing/dislocating. |
