Case Summary | Dealing With Rotator Cuff Pain
| Condition | Shoulder Rotator Cuff Injury |
| Current Status and How Case Started | In the course of my life, I have participated in a lot of physical exercise. I am an exercise video addict. Unfortunately, one time, I did a forward bend with hands clasped behind my back and heard a loud pop in my shoulder followed by intense pain. After reading up on this, I learned that I had damaged my rotator cuff. Because I have neither money, nor health insurance, I have never been able to have surgery to correct this problem. It took several years for the pain to subside. During that time, I made modifications to my work space and my exercise routine to avoid reaching forward with my right arm. For example, I used a lap board for my mouse so that I would not have to extend my arm to my desk top. I also took aspiring once daily for the pain because I do not use the more modern pain relievers. The pain has bothered me in lessening degrees for a number of years, but recently it flared up badly. I saw an LED light pain therapy device in a catalog and ordered it. This device has provided almost complete pain relief and, I think, has had a healing effect as well. I use the LED pain therapy device for15 minutes a day at bedtime. I wish I had found it sooner, as it seems to be a real miracle for dealing with joint pain. I also use it on a stiff knee and have used it on a sprained ankle with good results. I also use fish oil to help keep all of my joints operating well. I notice a difference if I run out and do not have fish oil for several days. |
