Case Summary  |  Fifth lumbar vertebrae fractures

Condition Back Lower (Lumbar) Fracture
Case Description

When I was 9 years old, I fell off the top bunk of a bunk-bed I shared with my sister, causing twin hairline fractures in my fifth lumbar vertebrae. I received extensive physical therapy that focused on exercising and stretching the lower back muscles to strengthen them enough to relieve as much of the pain as possible. To this day, when my lower back is sore, I still stretch it out to relieve some of the pain.

Weight loss, exercise, and stretching of the lower back muscles relieved a lot of the pain.
