Case Summary | Hammer Toe Surgery
| Condition | Leg 5th Toe Rotation (Hammer Toe) |
| Case Description | As a child I had pain in my small toe on my right foot. All shoes bothered me. The first spot to wear out on all my shoes was the right pinky toe. At about age 45, the toe started twisting and causing pain. After a few years, half the nail broke off. The pain got increasingly worse, especially in cold wet weather. I started getting cramps in my arches. It became difficult to walk downhill. Some of your weight shifts to your toes on downhills. My health insurance, which cost $400 per month, did not cover hammer toe surgery, so I lived with this painful condition for over 5 years. I changed jobs and got different insurance. The hammer toe surgery cost me $1500 with insurance. 90% of the pain and 90% of the unbalance is gone. I remember it like remembering a nightmare. |
