Case Summary | Inner Right Hip problem
| Condition | Hip Dysplasia |
| Case Description | I am now 26. When I was a junior in high school, I ran long distance track and cross country. Up to that point, I had been running for about 3 years. While between mile 3 and 4 during mile repeats (6x 1mi), I lagged behind to tie a shoe. When I had looked up, the group had already taken off. To describe the movement that has now become a persistent and life long pain, I basically turned the upper portion of my body ahead of my my abdomen and lower body and thrust upward in the direction that they were running, from a kneeling position. There was a definite pop, but no serious pain. When I began running, however, I only made it about 0.25 miles into mile 4 because of a growing pain that increased if I pushed it. To this day, I still cannot run more than a mile or so without feeling... a "burning" sensation on the tendon that runs down right upper hip and into the groin region. When I was in high school, my coach removed me from active running and put me in the pool or on an elliptical. He went well out of his way to keep me in competitive shape while my hip injury healed. Little did we know, it would never go away. I've been given pain meds to push through the pain. No tears or rips have ever been detected. MRIs were fruitless. Ultimately, I started physical therapy (last about 6 months, insurance company stopped covering it for some stupid reason at that point, so I couldn't continue). But the exercises I learned were very good. Mostly light muscle stretches and light routines to build the supporting muscle in the hip. I also got a riser placed into my right heel to correct a hip imbalance. Ultimately, I have never been given an explanation for what the problem is that causes this very strange pain. It's been ever present, since that practice. Sigh. |
