Case Summary | Lower back pain from rear-end collision
| Condition | Back Lower (Lumbar) Osteoarthritis - Degenerative disc disease |
| Current Status and How Case Started | I was rear-ended about ten years ago and suffered some acute lower back pain along with the usual neck and should injuries associated with a rear-end collision. I spent several months in physical therapy learning how to strengthen my back and receiving massage therapy and stimulation by the use of a TENS unit. I have been on and off pain management management since the accident and am currently diagnosed with severe degenerative disc disease having lost most of the disc between L3 and L4 and significant amounts of other discs. Possible surgery options are the placement of an intrathecal pain pump or the use of artificial discs. |
