Case Summary | Massage vs Chiropractic Therapy for Back Pain
| Condition | Back Lower (Lumbar) Pain |
| Case Description | As an office worker with poor posture and who uses a work laptop for 8 hours a day, I have chronic back pains that extend from around the neck to the lower back. Every other month or so, I used to treat the pain by way of massage therapy. While massages were relaxing and relieved back pains for a few days, it offered no real long-term solution. After a few years of on and off massage therapy, I thought a professional chiropractor might have more insight into my back pains. I found a chiropractor that cost nearly the same as an inexpensive massage, and was more effective in treating the back pain. Chiropractic treatment was not only relaxing but more in tune to my specific aches and went further to relieve long-term pain. I conclude that going to a chiropractor in general is better than massage therapy for back pain. The chiropractor is more specialized for discussing real back problems and is also able to expertly use a greater variety of procedures. |
