Case Summary  |  Minimal Change Disease

Condition Internal Minimal Change Disease of Kidney
Case Description

I started noticing a fair amount of weight gain in my legs in only a weeks time and was sort of attributing it to my bad food/nutrition choices. I decided that by the end of the week, something else must be going on because I had large indents in my legs from my socks and that is when the connection was made that I was swelling up not gainging weight. I was put in the hospital where they did a urinalysis and kidney biopsy. From the biopsy they could dtermine that I was excreting too much protein in my urine which in turn gave me edema. I was treated with prednisone for about 5 months and currently have no disease. I do notice that salty foods affect me much more since the incident however, relating to slight swelling of the legs.
