Case Summary | My shoulder treatments
| Condition | Shoulder Bone Spurs And Labrum Tears |
| Case Description | I have had surgery on both of my shoulders.Let me start with my right one.I am 44 years old now and have played sports for many years and I mostly played baseball and softball so I threw the ball very hard and eventually I started get pains when I threw so I went to my orthopedic doctor and he told me that I have a tear in my labrum. He made this diagnosis with no mri.I ended up having surgery on it and did have a tear in the labrum and I also had bone spurs which is what was really causing the most pain.I was sent to phisical therapy for over a month and then stopped but continued exercising for months afterwards.I can now say that my right shoulder is about 100% now.My left shoulder was more complicated.About 20 years ago I was playing baseball and I went head first into a base and dislocated my left shoulder.I was in a sling for over 6 weeks and was not recommened for any types of surgery back then, but through the years I was always having pain in my shoulder so I figured before I really get old let me have it checked out.So again i went to my orthopedic doctor who sent me to have and arthogram and an mri.The arthogram was an injection into the shoulder which had a dye where you would be able to see any tears when you had the mri.I had the mri right after the injection. The mri report did show numerous tears in my left shoulder including ligament.I then had surgery about 2 weeks later and I had to have 3 anchors put in my shoulder.I was out of work almost 3 months.I used a sling for about 6 weeks and had phsical therapy. This was much tougher than the right shoulder.I today still continue to excercise the shoulder and it is now one year since I had the surgery.Feeling much better but still not 100% but I feel it will be fine in time.Better to do it now and get it over with. |
