I had ugly, yellow toenails for many years. I tried every OTC treatment on the market. The OTC treatments are the liquid paint-on or drops variety. Two of the toenails on my right foot cleared up through this method, but none of the other toenails. I tried at-home remedies like vinegar, alcohol and Vick's Vaporub. I saw some whitening results, but no cure. Finally, the price of Lamisil or its generic Terbinafine came down in price. These are pills and you need a prescription. You can get it at Wal-Mart as one of their $4 prescriptions. I went to a doctor and got a prescription. It has now been six months and they've grown out clear and healthy. They look great. It's so nice to have pretty toes again. My recommendation to anyone with this problem is to get the prescription and stick with it. It will take several months, but it works.
