Case Summary  |  Piriformis Syndrome Problems

Condition Back Lower (Lumbar) Piriformis Syndrome
Case Description

One morning when I woke up several years ago I felt an intense pain in my back. I didn't think much of it at the time since I thought I had simply overworked myself the day before while working in my garden. After breakfast, I tried doing some basic stretches and exercises to stimulate my back but it did not help - in all honesty it made the pain worse. The pain continued for he news month and a half or so. Finally, I felt like I really needed to do something about it so I went to my doctor. After some examinations he diagnosed me with Piriformis syndrome. He told me it was probably because I had overworked myself too much which in turn caused the sciatic nerve in my body to become compressed.

It was upset and didn't know what to do. He told me to take it easy and put me on prescription strength Ibuprofen. The pain however was still very severe even after several months. He then suggested to me a new drug for Piriformis Syndrome, Naproxen. After it was prescribed, I took Naproxen. I have been taking it ever since and continue to do so to this day. It seems to have worked a lot better than the Ibuprofen. Along with using Naproxen to treat my Piriformis Syndrome I also get twice a week messages and have been doing excercises in order to strengthen my back. So far it was worked well for me.
