Case Summary | Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome
| Condition | Neurological Ramsay Hunt Syndrome |
| Case Description | Having had extreme pain in my ears, sinuses and head for three months with doctors unable to diagnose what was wrong with me, I finally saw a physician who noticed lesions on my sinuses and diagnosed me as having Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome. It's extremely rare and painful with no real cure. Luckily I didn't develop Bell's Palsy as a result of my flair up, but the pain was quite bad enough. I was put on a course of anti-viral medication to attempt to get rid of the H. zoster virus that was causing it, and a prescription of Lyrica to attempt to block the pain. The side effects of Lyrica were debilitating, however, so luckily it's not something I have to take all the time, just when flair-ups occur, which are extremely infrequently. |
