Case Summary  |  Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome

Condition Neurological Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome
Case Description

This started very randomly and about 6 years ago. I was in class when I suddenly had a very bad headache at the back of my head, it was so bad it became a migraine and I went home sick. When I got home I went to sleep. When I woke up my arm was cold, purple, hypersensitive and in a lot of pain radiating from next to my shoulder blade down my entire arm. After several months of neurologists, hospitals, blood tests, MRI's, cat scans, x rays, steroids and Neurontin I was diagnosed with RSD or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome. Overtime it spread to my leg but these episodes are rare compared to my left arm. Today I live with the episodes that have become milder and go for a few days or sometimes weeks in between. Sometimes the episodes last only 15 minutes other times they've lasted over a day.
