Case Summary  |  sacroilliac pain

Condition Back Lower (Lumbar) Sacroiliac Joint Pain
Current Status and How Case Started

I have had sacroilliac joint pain on my right side since I was a teenager, at least 30 years now. I have a problem with my right ankle that causes me to walk with a limp. I was told this is the probable reason for the stress on the sacroilliac joint. It hurts all of the time, to varying degrees, and it seems to be affected by fluctuating hormones, especially. It has been flaring for the last month, which affects walking, sitting, laying down and sleeping.

Helped a lot
Treatments Description

Going to physical therapy has been the only thing that has made a real difference. Heat therapy, TENS, ultrasound, massage especially helped. Stretching, various exercises and braces helped when used in conjunction with the above therapies. The benefits lasted for almost two years from one month of physical therapy. I think getting older does not help!

Case History & Details

Treatment Combo Anti-inflammatory Medication (NSAID) + Biking + Walking + Rest + Bed Rest + Change of Sleeping Position + Icy Hot
Treatment Result
No change
Description

Bed rest, walking and biking do not help at all, and can make it worse. Pain medication only helps if the pain wasn't that bad to begin with. Analgesic rubs like icy hot are totally useless.
