Case Summary  |  Sciatica

Condition Back Lower (Lumbar) Sciatica
Case Description

I've suffered from sciatica for approximately two years. The pain is intermittent, usually lasting for a few weeks at a time and then going away entirely for a few months before recurring. There is no obvious trigger; it just seems to flare up randomly from time to time. Generally, I experience a constant, moderate pain in my upper left thigh along with periodic (much more painful) shooting pains down the length of the left leg. I have also experienced muscle weakness in the left leg as well.

I have tried several conservative methods of treatment (OTC medication, heat, ice, rest, etc.), none of which has really helped at all. Moderate exercise seems to help quite a bit though.
