Case Summary  |  Severe OA in Right Knee

Condition Knee Osteoarthritis
Case Description

Have had extensive knee issues since I was a teenager (I am now 38). Increasing difficulty with right knee over last six months. Went to orthopedic surgeon, he took x-rays and did examination. He has informed me that I have severe osteoarthritis in my right knee, and the only definitive course of treatment is a total knee replacement. Due to my young age, however, the doctor is recommending against that course of action at this time, and we are trying other intermediary measures to buy me some time before surgery is the only option at all.

Cortisone injection was helpful (received three months ago). Celebrex has been only mildly effective. I could discern to difference between cortisone injection and daily Celebrex.
