Case Summary  |  The Psoriasis Battle

Condition Skin Psoriasis
Current Status and How Case Started

At first I thought it was an acne issue, but it turned out to be psoriasis. My mom and I figured out what it was because my dad had it and I unfortunately inherited it. At first it was really bad. I had patches all over my body and sometimes it hurt to even wear clothes. My mom got me a tanning bed and it cleared me up some, but not completely.

Over the years I have seen a ton of dermatologists, tried all kinds of medicines and treatments with and without success. After trying pills, creams, and everything else they have recommended, I went back to tanning. I figured I would rather risk getting skin cancer than to deal with the side effects of the other medicines. Currently, I still have psoriasis but it's spread throughout randomly. Stress of course makes it worse. I started getting it in my nails, which is very unpleasant especially for a female. I tried using fake nails to cover it, but that just made it worse.

Treatments Description

Mostly I use the tanning bed now, but taking vitamin E and fish oil helps a lot. I also use Neutrogena's Cold Tar shampoo to get the flakes out of my scalp. Keep in mind I have used these medicines at different times, not altogether.
