Case Summary | Treating Shoulder dislocation
| Condition | Shoulder Dislocation |
| Case Description | I coach swimming in the morning and train in the afternoon. I was quite tired that day from coaching swimming and still pushed myself to train. During the warm-up, as I was about to swim my first lap, my right shoulder just gave away and I heard a pop and could not move my shoulder. My right shoulder felt extremely painful and I can see my shoulder had moved down. My right shoulder is now lower than my left shoulder. I was immediately rushed to the emergency room and there they performed a close reduction relocation surgery in other words they did not open me up but just maneuvered to push my shoulder back in place. Afterwhich, I had a physical therapist see me in my house. She gave me some stretching and light weight exercises and progressed it gradually to heavier exercises. She did this slowly and before I know it, I was stronger than my preinjury condition. After 6 months of exercises, I was able to go back to swimming but had to do the workouts gradually. I still am a swim coach now and still swim thrice a week. My lifestyle had been back to normal after the therapy. I had a physical therapy go to my house 3x/week for 3 months |
