Knee Patello-Femoral Syndrome Treatment

Patello-Femoral Syndrome is a condition caused by the patella (knee cap) not tracking properly over the femur (thigh bone). As the knee bends, the patella should slide smoothly along a groove in the thigh bone. If the patella experiences forces which push it against the sides of the groove, it can cause pain. One usually experiences pain in the front of the knee, around or beneath the knee cap, may have difficulty going up or down stairs.

Exercises can help strengthen the inner side of the quadriceps muscle. The muscle in the front of the thigh hooks in the kneecap and helps align it into the center of the groove.
