I broke my ankle in February of 2007, and ripped all the tendons and ligaments as well. Instead of using a cast for 12 weeks (six full length, six knee length), I elected to have a metal plate installed into my ankle. It helped me to recover much more quickly than a cast would, and though I have arthritic pains ....
