Shoulder Rotator Cuff Injury Treatment

The shoulder joint is a ball and socket type joint where the top part of the arm bone (humerus) forms a joint with the shoulder blade (scapula).

The rotator cuff holds the head of the humerus in place against the shoulder blade. The rotator cuff is comprised of four muscles and their tendons.

Injury or chronic inflammation can cause the tendons of the rotator cuff to tear. Most people recover fully after a combination of medications, physical therapy, and steroid injections.
